FC Monmouth VS Jackson Lions FC Preview
WRITTEN BY CHRIS DAILEY
FC Monmouth is set to take on Jackson Lions away from home at Donovan Catholic High School this Saturday at 7 PM.
FC Monmouth, led by Head Coach, John Killick, is eager to get revenge on their local rivals after a nail-biting 1-0 loss in which both sides shared a decent number of chances.
The Lions, however, were victorious despite FC Monmouth’s valiant effort.
Coach Killick is eager to rebound from the tough result earlier in the season and use the momentum garnered in FC Monmouth’s 3-1 victory over First State FC last week to steal three points away from the Lions and climb up the league table.
“There's a great atmosphere after a win. It always is. We are looking forward to another great game against the Lions. It's always fun to have a local rival. They're a great team and we can match them,” stated Coach Killick.
FC Monmouth will be sure to look for Johnny Troiano up top to seal the deal against the Lions.
Troiano, who plays collegiately at Rowan, is on a three-game scoring streak, highlighted by a thirty-yard stunner against reigning National Champions, FC Motown.
FC Monmouth will also be sure to look for strong performances from center-back pairing, Mason Martelloni and Joe Davis, as they look to shut down Jackson Lions’ new forward, Daniel Russo who hails from the University of Notre Dame as well as former FC Monmouth player Dave Nigro.
Even on paper, Coach Killick understands it comes down to who puts together a better 90 minutes on Saturday night.
“It's just about who's best on the day. If we enjoy ourselves and play like we can it's going to be another great game,” said Coach Killick.
Jackson is coming off of a 3-2 loss against FC Motown in which the two sides shared equal chances.
FC Monmouth, meanwhile, recently fell 3-1 to FC Motown. However, a red card following FC Monmouth’s early lead was the difference-maker in a game that could’ve easily swayed either way.
FC Monmouth players and staff alike know the task at hand and are ready to go for Saturday night.
