FC Monmouth Prepares To Take On FC Motown

WRITTEN BY CHRIS DAILEY

FC Monmouth is set to travel up to Montclair State Soccer Park tomorrow to take on rivals, FC Motown, at 6 PM.

FC Monmouth has yet to record a win against Motown, who are considered one of the best amateur teams in the country and are the reigning NPSL National Champions.

FC Motown topped FC Monmouth 3-0 earlier in the season at Count Basie Park.

FC Monmouth’s captain Rhys Cotter doesn’t forget and is ready to embark on what will be an uphill battle and make FC Monmouth history.

“We want to try to stay positive, keep doing what we’ve done well all season, improving on the stuff we’ve not done as well, and obviously we are going to try to win, that’s all we can try to do,” stated Cotter.

FC Monmouth’s last outing was a 2-2 draw against Keystone Conference counterparts, Atlantic City FC in a game that could’ve gone either way. FC Monmouth came back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 with a few minutes to spare when Atlantic City found the back of the net thanks to a world-class volley from outside the 18-yard box.

FC Monmouth players left the game with a bitter taste in their mouths and now know that every game from here on out is a must-win with playoff hopes hanging on by a thread of the needle.

“We got to get a win. We need a win and haven’t gotten enough wins, hopefully, we can pull one out,” said John Troiano, who alongside Rhys Cotter, scored a goal for FC Monmouth in the game against Atlantic City.

Troiano will need to work his magic for FC Monmouth to top a giant on the amateur soccer scene.

In a true David versus Goliath matchup, FC Monmouth is headed toward the game with confidence they can pull off the upset and shock the world.

For FC Monmouth fans, it’s important to understand that many key players who were out against Atlantic City, such as Davi Caputo and Conor Kelly, will most likely return for the upcoming game.

The depth these players provide will be instrumental in the Blue and Gold’s vision of producing one of the biggest upsets in NPSL history.
