January 4th 2024

Laurent Rouzaire has been appointed as an assistant/goalkeeper coach for both FC Monmouth’s men’s and women’s teams. Rouzaire, the current assistant coach for Monmouth Men’s soccer brings in over ten years of goalkeeper coaching to the blue and gold.

Rouzaire, originally from France, has previous experience both playing and coaching in his home nation. From 2012-15 he worked with CA Peymeinade after spending time with RC Grasse for a second stint from 2010-12 after previously being on staff from 1999-2007. Rouzaire additionally served as a coach for ST Vallier from 2007-08.

As a player, he spent time with ST Vallier and CA Peymeinade where he was a Regional League First Team performer. He additionally played for RC Grasse and garnered Second Team Regional League recognition.

“I’m excited. I wanted to be one of the first in the pack. I want to go to the playoffs and win some games this season” Rouzaire stated.

With high aspirations and a talented keeper group on both the Men’s and Women’s sides, Laurent looks to utilize his experience to improve FC Monmouth’s defense and shot-stopping.

“I’m excited to learn from coach Lou (Santa Cruz) on the women’s side and coach Hugh (MacDonald) with the men. We have some talented goalkeepers that I am excited to learn from myself. Sometimes both the coaches and the players teach you more than your license courses.”

Rouziare met his wife, a New Jersey native in the caribbean, and has been in the Monmouth County area ever since. Outside of Monmouth, Rouzaire also owns his own goalkeeping training company, MVP Goalkeeper Training, where he has trained hundreds of players across Monmouth County.

FC Monmouth is incredibly excited to have Laurent a part of the club and to add his experience to both squads.

“It’s a unique situation where Laurent already has had great experiences with players on both of our (men’s and women’s) rosters. I’m excited to see what he can accomplish in his role, as we have not had a coach with goalkeeping experience since 2022. He is a great piece that we are thrilled to have on staff and to improve the player experience for both teams.” Says general manager James Davis.
