FC Monmouth's Inaugural Women's Match Preview

Written By Chris Dailey

A huge milestone in FC Monmouth history will embark on June 2 as the FC Monmouth Women’s team takes the pitch for the first time. The game will take place at Count Basie Park and is scheduled for 6 PM kickoff.

The Blue and Gold will be faced up against Real Central of the WPSL. Real Central currently sit in first place of the Mid Atlantic conference in the WPSL. It will be a tough task for the women in blue and gold to pick up points.

The team is coached by Lou Santa Cruz and Bryan Finley. The squad will be made up of many top collegiate athletes in the Monmouth and Ocean county area.

The game is historic as it’s a stepping stone for more to come with the Women’s team. The sport of soccer is for all, and FC Monmouth aims to provide an experience that will be tailored to inspire every young soccer player in the area.

General Manager James Davis is ecstatic to get this addition to the club off the ground. “It’s been literally less than a month since we officially announced the women’s team and it feels like it's been a year. I’m incredibly excited to see them out on the field for the first time getting the full FC Monmouth experience” says Davis. .

Many youth clubs from Monmouth will be in attendance to watch. It’s the club's vision to be able to show to those kids that they too can one day dawn the FC Monmouth crest and go to even further heights as did several mens players in the past that have since played professionally.

As for the players, it gives top local players a chance to stay sharp during the offseason and compete at a high level. This has been a gap in the system that’s been missing for quite some time, and FC Monmouth is dedicated to filling the void.

The FC Monmouth’s women's roster is as follows.

Julianna Caccamo (Monmouth), Sofia Gialanella (Merrimack), Payton Meara (Mount St. Mary’s), Rian Stainton (UMBC), Ava Gialenella (Northeastern), Kaylee Nagle (West Chester), Zoey Bates (JMU), Beth Stephens (Bloomsburg), Emma Woch (Ursinus), Abby Doherty (Lasalle), Alyssa Galayda (Kutztown), Cheyenne Payne (UMBC), Lily Moraller (Bucknell), Abbey Cowles (UMBC), Kianna Barber (West Chester), Nelly Bianchi-Nagle (Marist), Saige Santa Cruz (Desales), Tia Argento (Eastern), Angela Dinh (Stevens), Anna Casler (Towson), Olivia Conroy (West Chester), Samanatha Bersnel (West Chester), Kaitlyn Petitt (Stevens), Marley Besser (UMBC), Reee Paget (Seton Hall), Sunni DiElmo (Lasalle), Amber McGee (Post), Jacqueline Graham (West Chester), Jaime Girtain (TCNJ), Victoria Pungello (West Chester), Abby Stephens (Arcadia), Cameron Kennett (Rutgers), Peyton Gallagher (Mount St. Mary’s), Faith Wavershak (PSU Berks), Grace Crowley (Sienna) Alexis Garcia (Lasalle).
