Preview VS Atlantic City FC

FC Monmouth is set to return home to Count Basie and square off against Atlantic City FC on Saturday, June 10, at 6 PM.

FC Monmouth, having fallen 3-1 to Atlantic City in their first outing, is eager for revenge, this time being in front of a home crowd.

“I think the reverse fixture against AFC was a game which showed us how good we can be, but also how vulnerable we can be too. We had spells, especially in the first half, and were exciting in possession, but also when we didn’t have the ball, we showed the togetherness and unity we have in the squad to work and get it back. In the second half, we kind of ran out of steam and ideas, and let them grow into the game, giving away chances that ultimately led to goals. We all know running out of legs is a risk which we run when we go all guns blazing to get the ball back, that's the importance of being ruthless when we do get our chances in front of goal,” said FC Monmouth’s captain, Rhys Cotter, regarding both the upcoming match against Atlantic City.

Cotter is joined in the midfield by a mixture of Davi Caputo, Conor Kelly, and Brett Sieg. All four have played fantastically this season and are now looking to grab three points to validate the level of which they have been playing at.

Despite only garnering 3 points through the first 5 games, the team spirit in FC Monmouth’s locker room is well-alive and they are not giving up just yet.

“One positive word to describe the season would definitely be unity. In practice, the locker rooms, and even on the field, it’s wonderful to see how quickly we adapted to each other and how well we all get on. Sometimes there are disagreements, but that’s normal in soccer, especially when we know how good we are individually and the high standards we set for each other. I see those disagreements as a positive because it shows we are comfortable around each other and that we have created an environment and a bond within which allows us to be honest and say how we feel,” stated Cotter.

Following a heartbreaking 3-2 loss away at Philadelphia Union DS, the Blue and Gold are excited to be home and use the chemistry they’ve built on and off the pitch to earn a win in a huge fixture against Atlantic City.
