FC Monmouth vs First State FC Preview

WRITTEN BY CHRIS DAILEY

FC Monmouth travels to Deleware today to take on First State FC.

First State FC, known as the Midknight Riders, are stationed out of Wilmington, Delaware where they play at Abessino stadium - a mere 2 hours and 4 minutes away from Count Baise Park in Red Bank.

After losing 4-0 to Atlantic City FC on matchday, First State FC is also seeking their first points of the season as FC Monmouth also was defeated by reigning National Champions, FC Motown, in a 3-0 game.

This match will mark the highly anticipated debut of Conor Kelly. Kelly, a Rumson native, was a third-team all-ACC Honoree in his graduate season with the NC State Wolfpack.

Kelly was a highly sought-after recruit coming out of high school and continued that trend in the NPSL and USL League 2, with many teams trying to get the star players' signature.

Monmouth plans to utilize the playmaker ability of Kelly, combining him with Sieg and Cotter in the midfield, to distribute the ball forward to a former Barcelona Residency Academy starlet, Tyler Hutchinson.

“As a player, I bring determination and hard work to the table. My main goal is to support my teammates and let my abilities show for myself. I can do that by working hard with my teammates and competition with myself,” said Hutchinson regarding what he as a player brings to the table.

With a few more practices following the defeat to Motown and the short preseason, Coach Killick and FC Monmouth are finally starting to gel and come into their own, and this match will be a huge indicator as to what lies ahead for the rest of the year.

FC Monmouth is eager for the match against First State, and the boys are ready to put on a show. The game can be live-streamed on Eleven Sports.
