FC Monmouth vs FC Motown Preview

FC Monmouth is set to kick off their 2023 regular season campaign with a home match against the reigning NPSL National Champions and the longest lasting amateur team in the 2022 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, FC Motown.
FC Monmouth’s revamped roster, led by ACC star and Rumson native, Conor Kelly, alongside captains Rhys Cotter, Brett Sieg, and Mason Martelloni are ready to put on a show in front of the home crowd at Count Basie Park in Red Bank, New Jersey.
“We’ve had a very good pre season, arriving unbeaten as we go into the season helps a lot with confidence, and we want to keep building on the momentum we have already created. Saturday is going to be a tough game against the national champs, but I look around the squad, we’ve got bags of talent, and plenty of fight in us to get a result and send a statement to the rest of the league,” said FC Monmouth captain, Rhys Cotter, in preparation for the big game against Motown.
FC Monmouth and FC Motown played last season at Montclair State Soccer Park, where the two clubs fought hard in a thrilling encounter. The match finished as a 1-1 draw that, a huge result for the Blue and Gold.
FC Monmouth is coming off of a successful preseason in which Johnny Troiano stole the show.
Trioano will hope to continue his fine form into the regular season, and FC Monmouth is ready for the battle that they are soon to endeavor on.
Trioano will be joined alongside his Rowan teammate, nicknamed the rock of FC Monmouth for his solid play in the back, Mason Martelloni.
Martelloni will be stepping into an increased leadership role this season and his happy to be back. “I’m not going to lie, I can’t wait. I had a great season last year being in front of the home crowd, the club does a great job at getting a lot of people to come to the games and I can’t wait to get started,” stated Martelloni.
Another notable Rowan star, Davi Caputo, who scored a hattrick in the final ten minutes of the NJAC Championship game, propelling Rowan to a thrilling 3-0 victory over the Montclair State RedHawks. Caputo played a good game in the middle of the park for FC Monmouth against Real Central NJ.
As for the opposition, FC Motown returns many players from their championship winning season as well as a plethora of ex professionals and FIFA Internationals, and they pose to be a tall task for FC Monmouth.
However, after picking up a point last year and only improving the roster, FC Monmouth is ready and prepared for the challenge with their new look roster and strong mindset.
