May 8 will mark the beginning of FC Monmouth’s third season competing in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). The club has posted a combined record of 11-8-2, and will look to qualify for the playoffs in two of its first three seasons. Before Saturday’s season opener, here are a few statistics to know for 2021:

FC Monmouth and Jackson Lions FC announced a partnership in February of 2020, and as a result, over 10 players from Jackson Lions FC will suit up for FC Monmouth this season. More information on the partnership can be found here.

20 players on the 2021 roster are New Jersey natives. In all three seasons, FC Monmouth has had at least 20 New Jersey native players on its roster, with the record being 22.

This season’s roster features two players who have logged over 2,300 combined minutes for the club. Defender Zach Pereira is back for his third season and will look to add on to his FC Monmouth record 1,507 minutes played. Midfielder Chase Covello, who played in 2018, will look to become the second-ever player to eclipse 1,000 minutes.

Pereira can make history this season, as he is two games away from becoming the FC Monmouth all-time leader in games played. His career total is 19, one short of Dylan Fogerty’s 20 (2018-19).

Three players on the roster, who are all in their second season with the team, account for 25 percent of FC Monmouth’s 35 total goals scored (midfielder Chase Covello, midfielder Bryant Knibbs, and defender Matt Fryc).

The 2021 FC Monmouth roster features a record four goalkeepers. Matt Perrella, who has experience with multiple clubs and leagues, and Joseph Weinstein, who plays at the University of Scranton and Jackson Lions FC, join returners Trevor Zabilowicz and Josh Koenig.

This season’s FC Monmouth schedule features four games at Count Basie Park, a venue in which the club holds an all-time record of 6-2-2. There was a home unbeaten streak of eight-consecutive games in that stretch of games to begin the club’s history.

The 2021 schedule features a record six games away from Red Bank, including three in a row to close out the regular season. That three-game road trip will be the longest in FC Monmouth’s history. When the club has had back-to-back road games, it has a record of 2-1-0 in the second game (regular season only).

FC Monmouth will face its first-ever opponent from Delaware, First State FC, twice during the regular season. They will become familiar with each other quickly, as they clash twice within 11 days.

June 18 will be the first-ever Friday night game for FC Monmouth, as it hosts in-state rival Atlantic City FC. That game will also be the regular season home finale.

Tickets are available for all four home games, along with team apparel. FC Monmouth will kick off its third season this Saturday, May 8, at 6:00 p.m. against in-state rival FC Motown.
