Game Notes

FC Monmouth’s third game of the 2021 season takes the club to Delaware for the first time ever, as they will face NPSL newcomer First State FC. After recording an important point on the road in Scranton last week, FC Monmouth will look to build momentum with another game away from Count Basie Park. This game will mark the fourth in 19 days for First State FC, which is the most of any Keystone Conference club during that span. Their opening games were among the toughest in the conference as well, as all three of their games played have been against 2019 playoff teams.

LAST TIME OUT

After a break of 11 days, FC Monmouth earned its first point of the season in a 1-1 draw against Electric City Shock SC on May 19. Forward Josh Hesson scored the first goal of the season for the club in the 16th minute off of a stellar feed from forward David Nigro. Electric City scored the equalizer early in the second half, and both teams traded opportunities to break the tie down the stretch.

ABOUT FIRST STATE FC

Founded in 2019, First State FC is the first NPSL team to reside in the state of Delaware, and the latest addition to the Keystone Conference. They are the first team to enter the conference since FC Monmouth did before the 2018 season.

The May 29 meeting will mark the first-ever meeting between the two sides, and the first of two in 11 days. The return game in Red Bank will take place on Saturday, June 5.

NOTES AND NUMBERS

This will mark the first of two games this week for FC Monmouth, with the club hosting Torch FC on May 29. It is the only week during the season in which the club has multiple games.

Goalkeeper Matt Perrella has recorded 11 saves through two games, which is the fastest a FC Monmouth goalkeeper has reached double-digit saves.

The 11-day span in between games one and two is the longest FC Monmouth will go in between games this season. Starting with this game and continuing through the end of June, the club will play at least one game each week.
