FC Monmouth will be planning to rebound from last Wednesday’s loss when they travel to Egg Harbor Township to face Atlantic City FC on Wednesday night.
Atlantic City defeated FC Monmouth on May 9th, 2018 at Stockton University in what was the first-ever NPSL match for either side.
A few weeks later, FC Monmouth grinded out a weather-shortened, 1-0 victory over the Aces in their first-ever home match at Count Basie Park.
Atlantic City has kicked off their 2019 season with two stunning scorelines; a 4-1 home-opening victory over West Chester United SC, whose squad may have been altered by their involvement in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and a 6-1 win at Philadelphia Lone Star FC.
On paper, Wednesday night’s match will be a tough one for FC Monmouth, but with both clubs fielding such different squads in 2019 as opposed to last season, there’s no telling how it will pan out.
Pre-Match Quotes
“I feel like we need to redeem ourselves after the game the other day... I just want them [the players] to feel like they can play the game the way they played the first match, which is with confidence. With their abilities that they have, they should be able to overcome that last match that we had.” - Head Coach Brian Woods
“I think all of us realize that after last weekend it’s definitely a rebound game, but I think most of the guys are ready for it.” - Forward Brian Hawkins
“The communication is so important in defense, so we need to communicate better. The center-backs, the left-backs, the right-backs need to tell each other to be tight and stop the other forwards.” - Defender Pablo Fonseca
