FC Monmouth will face their closest geographical rivals New Jersey Copa FC on the road at Mercer County Community College in the last match of the regular season this Saturday night.

The match is undisputedly set to be the most important in FC Monmouth’s short history, as only a win can earn them the last playoff spot in the Keystone Conference. For Copa, a draw will be good enough to keep them in fourth place as they are ahead of FC Monmouth on goal differential.

FC Monmouth’s historic 1-0 win last weekend against playoff-bound West Chester United SC confirmed that they will finish their inaugural season unbeaten at home. The three points earned and Copa’s 4-2 loss to Junior Lone Star FC combined to put FC Monmouth into a “win and you’re in” scenario ahead of this weekend.

Saturday’s match will be the second time that FC Monmouth and New Jersey Copa FC meet this season as they played to a tight 2-2 draw at Count Basie Park on June 13th.

About New Jersey Copa FC

New Jersey Copa FC is “a pro-am soccer club fielded by the soccer/football academy FC Copa Academy from Metuchen, New Jersey which was founded in 2006 and fields men's, women's, and youth teams in a number of different US amateur and semi-professional leagues, in addition to yearly academy teams, which compete in various state, regional, and national competitions sanctioned by USASA.”

In 2015, FC Copa Academy created NJ Copa FC which joined the NPSL’s Keystone Conference for the 2016 season, where they finished second in the table and made it as far as the Regional Semi-Final.

Last summer, Copa won the Keystone Conference and made it to the Conference Final as well as the First Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
