FC Monmouth will travel to South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania tomorrow afternoon to take on Junior Lone Star FC in their first away match since their defeat to FC Motown on May 19th. Monmouth enters Saturday coming off of a three-match unbeaten run at home which included two victories.

Junior Lone Star FC will benefit from a full week of rest as their last match was a 3-1 win over the Electric City Shock on June 9th. The win broke the side’s two-match losing streak where they fell to FC Motown and West Chester United SC, respectively.

The two losses came after Junior Lone Star FC began their season with a 7-1 triumph over Torch FC and another on the road against Atlantic City FC.

Team News

Midfielder John Antunes remains sidelined with a hamstring injury that was sustained versus Hershey FC on June 2nd. Midfielder Daniel Vicente is also unavailable for selection, but forward Justin White is back in the squad.

About Junior Lone Star FC

Via their official website, “Junior Lone Star FC was founded in 2001 by West African immigrants, mainly Liberians, in Southwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When the club was founded, most of the team’s players were from Liberia; therefore, the founders decided to name the club Junior Lone Star FC after the Liberia national football team. In 2001, the club had a single team with 11 players, but the club has grown over the years with the addition of three teams with over 70 players.”

The club’s First Team played its first season in the NPSL in 2012. Junior Lone Star FC have both a U-23 and U-19/20 team that play in other amateur divisions.
